Garage Opener Sensor"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Sometimes things just work, because they work you don&#8217;t notice them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The garage door sensors starting playing up, they would indicate that something was blocking the doorway, this has happened before when a wire was snagged and the 6v dc was not getting to the sensor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trying to realign the sensors seemed to indicate a similar issue. Moving the wire while holding the sensor, the detectors would work intermittently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tugging at the wires and watching the LEDs, the issues seemed to be around some twisted wires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is where the term &#8220;insulated wire&#8221; gets really interesting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.astill.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Insulated-Wire.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"http:\/\/www.astill.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Insulated-Wire-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-240\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.astill.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Insulated-Wire-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.astill.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Insulated-Wire-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.astill.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Insulated-Wire-768x576.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.astill.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Insulated-Wire-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, http:\/\/www.astill.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Insulated-Wire.jpg 2016w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Both ends of the wire are visible, so what is the twist and why is it there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unwrapping the wire would reveal something I have never seen before, we can call it &#8216;innovative&#8217;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both wires joints were uninsulated, the wire wrapped around was to keep the bare wires apart and then insulate them from the bracket.
